Thumbs UP to Cedar Fair's new corporate headquarters -- a sign, if ever we saw one, that Cedar Point's parent company will keep its home in Sandusky. It looked, for a time, as though the suits would head to sunnier climes in the Carolinas, where Cedar Fair owns Carowinds park, but we're glad they're sticking with Sandusky. Besides the prestige thing, it's one more way to market this area as a potential home to other industries and businesses.

Thumbs UP to combining fiscal responsibility with compassion, as Erie County Commissioners reverse their earlier stance and decide to pursue an Ohio Department of Health System of Care grant after all -- after commissioners Bill Monaghan and Pat Shenigo received assurances the required $9 million local match would take little money out of the general fund, and decided to revisit the grant to see if its financially feasible. We've hectored the county to cut, cut, cut, but this seems to be a chance at mostly free money for a needed service.
