When the City of Huron can't take the time to inform households of a boil alert, something is wrong. Streets west of Marion in Huron have been put on a boil alert as of Sunday. Most residents didn't find out until Monday morning. I contacted the city to ask why we weren't informed and I was told they put it on the radio and in the newspaper because there were too many people to notify on an individual basis. I still haven't seen it in the paper and I only heard it on the radio Monday morning. How many people sit and listen to their radios all day? Who in our city is accountable for our safety? The excuse that there were too many people under the alert to notify individually is not acceptable. The City of Huron needs a refresher course on public health safety.

Editor's note: The Huron Police Department informed the Register on Sunday afternoon and the notice was posted on sanduskyregister.com throughout the day and into the next. The boil alert was lifted Tuesday.
