It's a sign of the times that many businesses are finding it necessary to re-think operating procedures, staffing and, even, the products they manufacture.
Double S Industries, a non-profit organization which employs adults with disabilities, has proven it's up for the challenge. Rather than taking the bleak economy sitting down, Double S business manager applied for and received grants that resulted in two new business ventures for the workshop -- a sign shop producing long-lasting signs from recycled milk bottles, and a digital archiving management business.
Using latest technology, "green" principles and old-fashioned ingenuity, Double S has managed to re-invent its place in the business community and provide gainful employment to clients who would face heavy challenges in the public workplace.
For 35 years, Double S has done its share to make the community a better place to live. And, now, with its emphasis on looking forward to latest advances, acting as responsible earth stewards and refusing to be defeated by economic setbacks, it has provided the community with an example for all businesses, large and small.
May they continue to prosper.
