DANBURY TWP.

A motorcyclist is in the hospital after an early-morning collision on Ohio 163 in Danbury Township.

The Sandusky post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that happened at 7:05 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers said Brian P. Carter, 39, of Lakeside Marblehead was traveling westbound on a 1997 Harley Davidson when a sport utility vehicle, driven by Stanley A. Luczkowski, 83, of Lorain made a left turn in front of him.

Officers said Carter struck the right side of the 2005 Hyundia Santa Fe and became pinned under the motorcycle on the highway.

Luczkowski, who was trying to turn into Harbor Haven, and his passenger were wearing seat belts and not injured in the crash, officers said.

Carter suffered serious head injuries, officers said, and he was taken to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo by medical helicopter.
