A Bellevue man was killed Monday at about 7:45 p.m. after failing to yield at a rural intersection into the path a pickup.

Matthew H. Holmer, 21, of Republic was traveling northbound on County Road 21 in a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado when he collided with Michael W. Black, 42, of Bellevue. Black was heading westbound on County Road 34 in a 1990 Oldsmobile 88 when he failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection with County Road 21, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Black, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the pickup, Holmer, was taken to Bellevue Hospital with unknown injuries.
