Residents of the Birchwood Drive area who packed the Perkins Township Hall meeting room Tuesday night had their wish granted when trustees rejected a zoning change that would have allowed the construction of dozens of condominiums in their neighborhood.

Nearly 30 residents attended the hearing to voice their concerns about how the proposed development would affect traffic, water runoff and property values in the area.

The trustees turned down developer Mike Taus' application for a Planned Unit Development to build 64 single-unit condos between Birchwood Drive and Ohio 2. The PUD would have allowed a higher density of development than permitted under the current R-1A residential zoning.
