I read with interest the recent data provided by St. Mary Central Catholic School in regard to the achievements of its students. For years the total of dollars in college scholarship offered has greatly exceeded the totals garnered at much larger schools. This fact attests to the high quality young men and women that this school prepares for life. Colleges obviously see this and want these students.

I have had children in the system for almost 20 years and the sum of all the college scholarships my children have been granted over the years has greatly exceeded the total cost of the tuition that I have paid for my children to attend SMCC.

As impressive as these facts are, St. Mary is able to offer something that no other institution is able to provide. St. Mary offers a successful way of life that extends far beyond high school and college years. Yes, SAT success and grades are obviously very important, but late in life who even remembers their scores? Does anyone ever ask? What really matters as one goes through life is what kind of person one is and how one lives their life. St. Mary provides that foundation for its students and this in the long run is far more important.

I have children in the mid 20s, and yes, I can strongly assure you that I received quite a bargain in a financial sense in sending my children to St. Mary. Far more importantly though, I now can see what kind of young adults that my children are becoming and that is the real bargain I have received in sending my children to St. Mary Central Catholic School.
