The Erie County Fairgrounds buzzed with activity Monday as workers prepared for today's opening.
The cars, trucks and trailers lining the midway would soon give way to strollers, wagons and foot traffic of fair-going families.
Yellow caution ropes blocked off the grounds, and handicapped parking signs were in place. John Deere tractors formed a semicircle of shiny green and yellow. Scattered along the walkways were blue trash bins -- bins that by this evening will be overflowing with discardedremnants of fried veggies, frozen lemonades and powder-sugared funnel cakes.
