Milan Township residents will vote in November on whether they want county landfill property re-zoned from agricultural to light industrial.
The trustees voted May 28 to rezone 3.77 acres of land. The rezoning would pave the way for Bio-Gas Technologies of Norwalk to move to Erie County. The company specializes in generating electricity by burning the gas produced by rotting garbage at landfills.
Citizens opposed to the rezoning filed petitions on Thursday, Erie County Board of Elections director Deborah McDowell said. The group needed 88 valid signatures and submitted 148.
