As much as she loves animals, Mona Rutger lives to let them go.

With a bald eagle perched on her forearm, she told a captive audience of second-graders from Pleasant Elementary School in Norwalk about the more than 2,500 wild birds, mammals, reptiles and other animals Back to the Wild rescues each year.
