The Ohio Department of Transportation's plan to replace a bridge in Milan is being criticized as a shortsighted project that doesn't allow for growth.

Milan officials say it is lunacy for ODOT to pay to replace a two-lane bridge on U.S. 250 over Rattlesnake Creek, just south of Milan, with another two-lane bridge. They say the smart thing to do would be to widen the bridge to four lanes.

"They have to look further down the road than they have been," Milan Mayor Robert Bickley said.
