A gambling machine and more than $1,000 in cash were seized Friday night during a raid of The Pump Bar and Grille. In addition, a patron was cited for serving an underage patron, and a 19-year-old woman was cited for underage drinking, Perkins police said.
Acting on a complaint, police and agents from the investigative unit of the Ohio Department of Pubic Safety went to the Hayes Avenue bar at about 11:30 p.m. and hauled out a gambling machine, Perkins police Lt. A.L. Matthews said.
Sarah Jesberger, 19, 500 W. Monroe St., was cited for underage consumption, and Cristine Ouelette, 29, 900 block Sycamore Line, was cited for sale or furnishing of liquor to an underage person, Matthews said.
Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Julie Hinds said $1,710 in cash was taken in the raid. The Pump was paying gambling winners with gas cards, she said. Agents cited the bar for four gambling violations: acquire, possess, control or operate a gambling device; electronic video gambling device; game of chance for profit or scheme of chance; and operating a gambling device.
CORRECTION: Cristine Ouellette was cited for sale or furnishing of liquor to a minor at The Pump Bar and Grille when she, as a patron, gave alcohol to an underage patron, police said. Her role was incorrectly characterized in an earlier post of this story because of a source error.
