PORT CLINTON

Charter boat captains can concentrate on fishing rather than border regulations after the U.S. Customs and Border Protection reversed two regulations on Canadian fishing.

Fishermen who cross the border into Canada will not have to report to customs as long as they are just fishing or dropping anchor. Bringing identification when fishing in Canadian waters is considered “advisable” but not a “requirement.”
