Attorneys met behind closed doors Monday morning in Erie County Common Pleas Court and set a new trial date for accused rapist John Riems.
Riems, 49, is charged with one count of gross sexual imposition and three counts each of rape, sexual battery and patient abuse.
The victims are two men who resided at Concord Care and Rehabilitation Center, where Riems worked as a nursing supervisor until January.
One victim is a55-year-old blind and partially paralyzed man and the other is a man in his 80s. During questioning Riems recalled abusing nearly 100 patients during his 22-year nursing career, police said.
Riems was slated for trialyesterday. He is now scheduled for trial starting Sept. 29.
Meanwhile Riems remains in Erie County jail on $500,000 bond.
He did not appear in court for the status hearing.
His attorney, Troy Wisehart, met with assistant Erie County prosecutor Mary Ann Barylski to discuss the case.
A final pretrial hearing for Riems is set for Sept. 10. Other cutoff dates for filing evidence and motions in the case were also set.
