The contract for about 80 Erie County Job and Family Services workers expired a month ago and union officials plan to ask for strike authorization when they meet with theirmembership Monday night.

Both sides, however, says it's premature to talk about a strike and they continue to work through their issues.

The three-year contract for employees in Local 3616 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees expired Feb. 29. The two sides are trying to hammer out another three-year contract.

Margaret Rudolph, human services director for Erie County, and Cheryl Tyler-Folsom, staff director for Ohio Council 8 in the union's Toledo office, say the two sides have eliminated many issues, but have a few sticking points.

Those sticking points include wages and health care costs.
