Ottawa County looks to restore historic mural

PORT CLINTON

More than a century after it was first painted, a mural in the Ottawa County Courthouse could get a touch-up.

The third-floor mural, located in the rotunda, was painted in 1901 and depicts four scenes: fruit growing, quarrying, fishing and farming.

"These are four major industries at the turn of the century," Ottawa County Common Pleas Judge Paul Moon said. "This artwork is pretty primitive. It may not be great art, but it's significant folk art."
