SANDUSKY

The new director of Erie MetroParks isn't making any promises, but Stephen Dice says if he can find a way to provide a public pool to the community, he will.

The parks system operated a pool at Osborn Park for years but shut it down in 2006 for lack of funds. It needed expensive repairs, and voters overwhelmingly rejected a new tax to pay for a new pool.

Dice told Erie County's commissioners Thursday that he's talked to a firm that builds and operates pools to see if it is interested in opening a pool here.
