Most therapists rely on the spoken word for treatment, but Lexi is not like most therapists.

How many therapists, after all, like to be scratched behind the ears and wag their tails when stroked?

The kind of therapy Lexi, a 2-year-old greyhound, provides to the 54 residents at Norwalk Memorial Home is quite different from what residents receive from their human caretakers, said Nancy Nickoli, director of volunteer and resident services.

"It's unconditional love," she said.
