Partial knee surgery now a local option

PORT CLINTON

The area’s first partial knee replacement surgery is now available at Magruder Hospital and Firelands Regional Medical Center.

The ground-breaking surgery emphasizes a quicker recovery time and is less invasive than the traditional knee surgery, said Dr. Gary Kresge, a board certified orthopedic surgeon.

“The main reason we’re promoting this over the total knee joint replacement is it’s more like your natural knee,” Kresge said. “Would you rather have an artificial surface or your natural parts? The more natural your knee is, the better it’s going to do.”
