I recently attended a St. Mary's Central Catholic girls basketball game at The Den in Sandusky.

Being an avid basketball fan, I was not surprised when the girls played music during warm ups. I was surprised at what songs they played, though.

Included in this assortment of songs was "Low" by Flo-rida, a song by 50 Cent, and a couple other of the same genre.

Given the setting, these songs offended me. Playing rap songs with questionable lyrics at a Catholic School is not right.

This doesn't mean students shouldn't listen to rap. There are places for that music, and inside a Catholic school is not one of them.

School officials should know better than that. I think they need a gut check on what they are representing on school grounds. Please don't play songs with offensive lyrics during a Catholic sporting event.
