More than a year in the making, Huron Harbor is scheduled to be dredged this summer.
"This is definitely a positive thing for the city of Huron in terms of economic growth and development," said Huron Boat Basin facilities manager Doug Steinwart. "It will keep businesses and docks at the harbor running smoothly."
The dredging, which is necessary to keep the federal shipping channel open, will be conducted by the Army Corps of Engineers. But due to a nearly $500,000 decrease in funding, the project will not be as comprehensive as originally planned.
