Investigators are still working to determine the cause of a Tuesday night fire that left a vacant home on U.S. 6 a smoldering heap.
Sandusky fire Chief Mike Meinzer said details of the fire's origin are scarce, but it must have been started by a human because there were no utilities in the home.
"There is some indication that people were using the structure, but we aren't sure if they are vagrants or kids," he said.
If vagrants, it is likely the fire was accidental, Meinzer said. Otherwise, it may have been intentionally set.
