State legislators are considering requiring convicted sex offenders to sport green license plates on their vehicles, but several area groups oppose the idea.

If approved, a bill introduced in March 2007 would require the offenders to display a neon green plate similar to yellow DUI plates already instituted in Ohio.

The bill was introduced by the parents of a girl who was abducted, raped and killed by a convicted sex offender.
