LAKE COUNTY

The courtroom slugging match between environmentalists and landowners over property rights on the Lake Erie waterfront is entering another round.

Property owners who say their deeds give them ownership of beaches on their lakefrontproperty won the first round last month, when Common Pleas Judge Eugene Lucci of Lake County ruled that while the lake and the land it covers belongs to the public, landowners own private property to the water's edge.
