ERIE COUNTY

A new Ohio law creating stricter registration guidelines for sex offenders has created more work for county sheriffs without any state compensation.

Senate Bill 10 was passed July 1, 2007, and became law Jan. 1. The law is in compliance with the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, a national law passed in July 2006 that requires stricter rules for sex offenders and child abductors.
