Starting today, a new feature in the Register will showcase Erie County's most wanted criminals on a weekly basis. Readers are encouraged to report any information on the whereabouts of these people to local law enforcement.

An out-of-state man is wanted for attempted murder in the shooting of another man a year ago.

Allen P. Williams, 23, last known address of Chicago, is charged with attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, aggravated robbery and having weapons while under disability.

On Jan. 22, 2007, Williams shot 33-year-old Thomas King, also of Illinois, in the head with a .38-caliber semi-automatic pistol, according to police. A fight broke out that date at a Harrison Street home during an argument about gambling.

Williams is believed to have left the state. He has prior arrests, including for felonious assault on a police officer, in Mansfield in July 2005. He is a black male and 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 155 pounds.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to call the Erie County Sheriff's office at 419-627-7553.
