Pay up. That's what the Ohio Supreme Court told Erie MetroParks on Tuesday, ordering the park system to begin figuring out how to compensate property owners who have long claimed ownership of the land that became the Huron River Greenway.
The court ruled the park system had no right to take the land to build the recreational trail that when finished will run nearly seven miles from Milan along the path of an old railroad line toward Huron. The former rail line is adjacent to the old Milan Canal, which allowed ships built in Milan to sail to the Huron River and then to Lake Erie.
