A European company has a $16 billion bid on the table for the assets of Imperial Chemical Industries, the company that owns the former Glidden plant in Huron.

Akzo Nobel, a Netherlands-based company, plans to purchase ICI Paints by the end of this year, according to Tim van der Zanden, financial media officer for the company.
