PORT CLINTON

One of two Port Clinton administrators linked to missing scrap metal was charged today with theft and theft in office.

The Ottawa County Grand Jury returned indictments on two felony charges against former Safety-Service Director Rich Babcock.

Babcock resigned Thursday while Service Department Supervisor Kenneth Heschel was demoted to heavy equipment operator.

Babcock and Heschel are accused of selling scrap metal from a city-owned facility with the intent to set up a slush fund.
