SANDUSKY

Taking lunch money and giving wedgies is so old school.

Bullying has progressed to the Internet.

Threatening text messages and harassing e-mails have prompted Sandusky High School officials to make additions to the student handbook.

"We've had some situations where students have been using e-mail or text messaging to threaten other students," Principal Dan Poggiali said.

Poggiali said even though students will send the text messages or e-mails when they're out of school, they carry out the threats when they're in school.

The district has already eliminated e-mail access from school computers.

"It has helped, but it doesn't prevent them from texting and it certainly doesn't prevent the banter that happens outside of school," Poggiali said.
