50 years ago, 1957: Caption below a small boy walking by his father: He loves to follow in your footsteps. Be sure to make him a "saver," too! The Citizens Banking Company.

25 years ago, 1982: Tom and Mary Rose Hayes got to live like millionaires -- at least for a day. They were the winners of the "Live Like A Millionaire" contest sponsored by the Sandusky Register and a number of its advertisers. Mr. and Mrs. Hayes would receive interest on $1 million for a day, plus an all-expenses paid stay at Sawmill Creek Lodge near Huron and limousine transportation to and from Sawmill.

10 years ago, 1997: Former Sanduskian Bill Appell, art director for CBS affiliate WBNS-TV in Columbus, won and Emmy for his work on "Full Throttle," a special about auto racing that aired the previous year. Appell received his statue at a ceremony in Cincinnati.
