Perkins police received a call at 6 p.m. Wednesday from a 6200 block Milan Road restaurant about two men trying to steal an ashtray from outside the building.

The ashtray, with a bucket on top for used butts and rocks in the bottom to hold it down, weighs about 30 to 40 pounds.

The caller told police two men were being loud inside the restaurant and were asked to quiet down. Despite the request, they continued to be loud and were asked to leave the establishment. As they left, they attempted to take the ashtray with them.

When police arrived they were unable to locate the two men or their vehicle. The ashtray was left behind.
