It took three years for City Manager Mike Will to bring the city to where it is today.

But it only took two minutes and eight seconds to resign.

Will was brief Friday when he told commissioners during an emergency meeting he intends to leave his post by June 11 to start a new job in the private sector. An interim city manager has not been named.

Will would not say where he would be working, but a commissioner said the job is at Invacare in Elyria.

Invacare is the industry leader in the $6 billion market for home medical products, manufacturing and distributing.

"Earlier this week I was offered a position with a different company and I have decided to accept that, Will said Friday.

Will, 35, said the hardest part of his decision is leaving the relationships with city staff and community members.

"It's just tough to let go of that," he said.
