SANDUSKY

Sandusky police forcibly subdued a Sandusky man Tuesday night after he refused to pull his car over and fled on foot.

His two companions got away.

Jason S. Sundermeier, 37, 2100 block of Chickasaw Trail, was charged with failure to comply with the signal of a police officer, a felony, and resisting arrest in addition to four other crimes.

He was held in Erie County Jail Tuesday night in lieu of $5,000 bond.

A Sandusky officer said he watched Sundermeier run a red light at a Hancock Street intersection at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. Sundermeier ran several stop signs and traffic lights trying to allude the officer, a police report said, but eventually ditched his car on North Depot Street near McDonough Street with two other passengers.

Sundermeier was caught by two officers at South Depot Street, where he continued to fight with police trying to break free. Police said he appeared to be intoxicated.

Sundermeier was also charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, driving under suspension, obstructing official business, and a red light violation.
