50 years ago, 1957: Jack Hagaman had resigned as executive secretary of the Sandusky YMCA, according to an announcement that day. Hagaman would leave June 1 to take up his new duties as executive secretary of the Monroe branch of the Rochester, New York, YMCA.

25 years ago, 1982: The Norwalk Police department would begin registering Kindergarten students for the 16th annual Safety Town program. The program taught incoming kindergarten children about traffic safety awareness.

10 years ago, 1997: The first two phases of Port Clinton's downtown revitalization were hit with a setback, and council members also faced some hard funding decisions about Phase III. City officials learned that anticipated federal funds for Phase I, which was to have begun that September, would not be available until July 1, 1998, Mayor Tim Brown said the council's work session.
