On May 8 the voters of Sandusky County have the opportunity to vote for the Sandusky County Park District. The Park District receives no funding from the state or county and operates on a tax levy that expires in December. The 1-mill, 10-year tax levy on the ballot will replace the expiring levy and allow the continued operation of the quality facilities and services. This will cost the owner of a $100,000 home just $2.50 a month. This is a small price to pay for the quality parks system we have in Sandusky County.

If you have never walked or rode your bike along the North Coast Inland Bike Trail, you don't know what you are missing. This is a wonderful trail to have right here in our county. It is beautiful, peaceful and safe. The levy will provide the opportunity for expansion of the trail. If a levy is not passed this year, the district will have to return nearly $2.5 million granted for a 10.5 mile extension of the bike trail.

The Park District has proven to be a good steward of our resources. I encourage all Sandusky County voters to vote for the Park Levy on May 8. Please keep the parks here for our children and grandchildren.
