PORT CLINTON

Port Clinton's planning commission on Thursday approved a zoning change from a government district to a central business district.

It will now go to the Port Clinton council for final consideration.

The change applies to the 14-acre park area within Washington, Perry and East Jefferson streets and south of Lake Erie.

The zoning change allows restaurants, shops and hotels to build within that area, also known as Waterworks Park. A government district is mainly limited to parks.
