HURON

A 77-year-old man was charged with sexual imposition Sunday after an incident involving an 80-year-old female Alzheimer's patient at the Erie County Care Facility.

Edward Estep of Second Street in Norwalk was charged after he allegedly stuck his hands inside the woman's waistband, according to a sheriff deputy's report. The alleged victim lives in a room at the facility adjacent to Estep's wife. Their rooms are connected by a bathroom. Estep, who visits his wife once or twice a day, said the woman often wanders into his wife's room, and he helps her back to her own room.

The deputy's report gave the following account: On Sunday afternoon, Estep was helping the resident back to her room when they stopped in the bathroom, where the assault allegedly happened. Two employees witnessed the alleged incident and one of them provided a written statement to deputies.
