Sandusky police busted a fight involving at least 50 people and an alleged gunshot early Saturday near Camp and West Madison streets.

At about 12:20 a.m., police arrived and the brawling group immediately scattered, according to a Sandusky police report.

Soon after, an "unknown citizen" approached an officer and said just before police arrived, someone fired a gunshot during the altercation.

During the incident, police gave chase to two men running eastbound on West Madison Street. They cut through a yard near Shelby Street and police couldn't catch them.

Eight officers responded to the scene. They searched the area and didn't find any shell casings or other evidence of gunshots.

When the group completely dispersed, police left the area.
