Where have all the mudpuppies gone?

50 years ago, 1964: Farrell Cheek Steel Co. employees walked out of the plant at noon, following a call for a special union meeting. Officials declined to say why the meeting was called or whether or not the men would go back.
25 years ago, 1989: From the size of the crowd jamming the hillside by the river stage, the $2 admission charge didn't keep too many people away from the opening night of the Huron Water Festival.
10 years ago, 2004: Mudpuppies, large aquatic salamanders common in Lake Erie, were dying in large numbers. Experts were not sure just what caused the kills. Officials estimated that hundreds and perhaps thousands of mudpuppies had died recently.
