Sandusky police are investigating the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl over the weekend, and the alleged perpetrator is a 25-year-old man.

The girl reported the incident to authorities around 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sandusky police Sgt. Dana Newell said.

She had plans to spend Friday night at a friend's house, but called she mother and informed her she'd instead be staying the evening with a different friend, Newell said.

The girl then went to the man's Stone Street home and fell asleep, Newell said.

At some point, she felt somebody taking off her clothes.

“She felt she was dreaming, then she woke up and (realized) it was him,” Newell said.

It was then the man allegedly began raping her.

“She said she told him to stop, and he told her he 'didn't give a (expletive)',” Newell said.

When the assault was through, the girl left the home and met her mother at a friend's house, where she disclosed what had allegedly happened.

Officers went to the man's home after the girl reported the incident to police, but the man refused to speak with investigators or allow them to search his home.

The man did indicate he knew the girl, but offered few further details.

Officers obtained a search warrant instead, ultimately locating and confiscating evidence of a sexual encounter, Newell said.

The girl also underwent a sexual assault exam.

Social workers will interview the child in the coming days and investigators are awaiting crime lab results, Newell said.
