Sandusky Schools officials are expected to unveil a retooled list of treasurer hopefuls next week.
Board members have scheduled a closed-door meeting for 8 a.m. June 17 to discuss the matter at the district's board of education office.
They're expected to review the roster and select a handful of interviewees with help from representatives from Finding Leaders, a Cleveland-based search firm, board president Tom Patterson said Monday.
Deadline to apply for the position is Friday.
"Finding Leaders has done their part, and now it's our turn to do our research too," Patterson said.
The goal is to hire a replacement for departing treasurer Kevin Robertson by the end of June, or early July at the latest, allowing the pair to work together during the transitioning process, Patterson said.
Robertson's final day with Sandusky Schools is July 30. In March, he accepted a new job as treasurer of Bay Village Schools, near Cleveland.
Partnering with Finding Leaders in late April extended the district's anticipated hiring date for its new treasurer by about a month.
A search earlier this year, headed by school board members and district officials, turned up only six applicants, half without a treasurer's license, prompting the partnership with the well-established search firm. The school board then reached out to Finding Leaders for assistance and extended the deadline for applications.
Contracting with Finding Leaders cost the district $7,500, Robertson said.
The Register will publish a list of individuals interviewing for the Sandusky Schools treasurer position, as well as their résumés, when the information becomes publicly available.
