Shamanique Bryant pleaded guilty last month to aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, DUI and failure to stop after an accident.
Bryant, 28, was sentenced Tuesday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. Bryant’s attorney said his client worked as a nurse and tried to help people.
Prosecutors said the incident began outside a bar in suburban Cleveland in December, where Bryant’s brother was shot and wounded. Bryant, her brother and Mattie Stubbs then got into Bryant’s car. Bryant struck another vehicle, tossing her brother and Stubbs from her car. Bryant returned to the accident scene and ran over Stubbs.
