50 years ago, 1964: In almost all precincts in Erie County, voting was heavier than it was two years ago during the last primary election. By mid-morning some 87 had already cast their ballots at Precinct 2-1 - Sandusky High School, 14 at Adams Junior High and 51 at the Erie County Office Building.
25 years ago, 1989: A strike by heavy construction equipment workers continued to paralyze nearly every major road project in Ohio including work on the Ohio 2 bypass around Huron.
10 years ago, 2004: Scotty Davis II, of Sandusky, was named Outstanding Young Volunteer of the Year, an award sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 2529. He volunteered 1186 hours during the last eight years at the Ohio Veterans Home.
