Sandusky Schools has extended its treasurer search an extra week.
The deadline to apply for Kevin Robertson’s soon-to-be vacant position is now April 25, school board president Tom Patterson said.
Previously, the district planned to collect all applications by Friday.
“We’re going to give applicants some extra time because of the upcoming holiday” Patterson said.
The extension will also allow board members to advertise the position throughout a larger geographical area, he said.
The district’s school board is conducting the search without the aid of an outside agency.
Board members initially planned to hire Robertson’s replacement by May 26, but the timeline could be extended by a week to make up for the extra time allotted to applicants, Patterson said.
Regardless, the new treasurer’s start date will remain Aug. 1.
Robertson, who has been the district’s treasurer since 2008, announced in early March he’ll be leaving the district to become treasurer of Bay Village Schools, near Cleveland.
The Register has submitted a public records request for copies of all Sandusky Schools treasurer applications. Copies will be available at sanduskyregister.com , likely by the first week of May.
