50 years ago, 1964: As it has for decades, New York City turned Fifth Avenue over to the sons of Erin for their annual parade in honor of their patron saint - Patrick. Some 150,000 paraders were on call for the parade, one of the most colorful observances in the world.
25 years ago, 1989: Perkins High School science teacher John Blakeman released a red-tailed hawk that he cared for after an infection to a claw nearly claimed the hawk's life.
10 years ago, 2004: Prince, Bob Seger, Jackson Browne, George Harrison, ZZ Top, Traffic and the Dells were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
