50 years ago, 1964: Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara told a rally of 30,000 South Viet Nam persons that "We will supply now and in the future whatever economic aid, military training and military equipment you need to defeat your enemy, now and forever."
25 years ago, 1989: The buzzards were spotted in Hinckley just as they had been for virtually every March 15 in the last 22 years. Cleveland Metroparks Rangers spotted three of the flying scavengers at 6:32 a.m., shortly before sunrise.
10 years ago, 2004: A factory worker who claimed his lungs were ruined as a result of mixing flavoring oils used in microwave popcorn was awarded $20 million by a jury. Eric Peoples was the first of 30 former workers to have his suit heard against International Flavors and Fragrances Inc., the makers of the butter flavoring.
