Sandusky Schools plans to replace departing treasurer Kevin Robertson by June.

Robertson, the district’s treasurer since 2008, announced Monday he’d accepted a new job as treasurer of Bay Village Schools, near Cleveland. His new job begins Aug. 1.

School board members haven’t officially accepted Robertson’s resignation, but they’ve already set the schedule for a two-months-long search.

The Register received a copy of the timeline Thursday, after a closed-door school board meeting.

“We anticipate a deep pool of candidates and are committed to finding the very best possible person to be our new treasurer,” board vice president Martha Murray said. “We want to be as thorough as possible”

The plan: advertise the position until April 18 and conduct interviews throughout May.

By May 26, the district should officially hire Robertson’s replacement, according to the schedule. He or she will then transition into the new job throughout June and July, with both Robertson and his staff.

“The board is intent on identifying and having someone new to work with Mr. Robertson through the closing process for the current academic year,” board president Tom Patterson said. “Together with that experience, and seeing firsthand the functioning of the payables, receivables and payroll staff for six-plus weeks, the new treasurer should be ready for a seamless transition by Aug. 1”

Robertson will receive $120,000 per year at Bay Village Schools, according to his new three-year contract.

At Sandusky Schools, he was set to receive about $104,000 per year, according to his current contract, which was set to expire in August 2016.

At their April board meeting, Sandusky school board members are expected to officially accept Robertson’s resignation, effective July 31.
