A dog bit an infant’s head Wednesday afternoon at a Bogart Road home, Perkins police said.
The 11-month-old boy required 10 stitches for his injuries.
The child was at his babysitter’s house, in the 200 block of E. Bogart Road, when the family’s golden retriever-poodle mix bit the child’s face, according to a police report.
The dog’s owner later told police he was in the bathroom when he heard screams coming from his daughter’s room. The daughter said she was in her room with the goldendoodle and two other children when the child crawled into the room. The dog let out a “scary bark” and lunged at the baby, the daughter told police.
Paramedics rushed the child to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where doctors had to stitch up his lacerations. None of his bones were broken, the report said.
The infant’s father expressed concern because the dog allegedly bit another child several years ago, the report said.
The incident was forwarded to the Erie County Dog Warden for further review. The child’s father declined to pursue charges against the dog’s owner.
