The Sandusky Club of Black Business and Professional Women is hosting the celebration starting at 11 a.m. on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, said Verlene Wood, a member of the club.
There is still work to be done to reach King’s dream of true equality.
“We are trying to keep Dr. King’s dream alive,” Wood said.
The main speaker is Pastor Dr. Freda J. King.
King, who is not related to the King family, will be giving a speech titled “Neighbor & Community; United We Serve” she said.
The Sandusky High School Martin Luther King choir will perform and students will be performing a style of dance known as “Step” dancing.
Community leaders, Superintendent Eugene Sanders and school board members will be in attendance, Wood said.
